Why should I do my bookkeeping regularly?

When a small business owner is busy, we all know that doing the bookkeeping is the last thing you want to do, however, we thought we would share some examples of why you should ‘do the books’ regularly.

This week, we saved a client £2935 – they had not completed their bookkeeping for 6 months, we brought it up to date and found a cheque for £2935 had been fraudulently cashed 5 months ago which had previously been unnoticed.

Another client had not reconciled their bank statements regularly and had not noticed a direct debit for £45 per month going out. They thought they had cancelled it 2 years ago! A saving of £540 per year.

Both of these are just some examples of what we have found when we have brought bookkeeping up to date for people. Are you on top of your books? What could you find?
